Traditional and Distal Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the many modalities within Traditional Chinese Medicine.  It involves inserting extremely fine, sterile, single use needles into the body at specific points.  These locations have demonstrated to be effective for the treatment of specific health issues.

Distal acupuncture involves inserting needles away from the effected areas, going distant/distal from the injured site as opposed to needling the target area locally.

Esoteric Acupuncture

Esoteric Acupuncture integrates ancient wisdom including Tarot, Astrology, Sacred Geometry, the Kabalistic Tree of Life and the Chakra system with Traditional Chinese Medicine and the associated philosophies of ancient China.

Through needling acupuncture points in a specific order forming sacred geometrical patterns it allows us to align the finer bodies into a harmonious balanced state.   As the body returns to equilibrium the focus moves to supporting your own heart and energetic growth on a deeper and more spiritual level.

Shonishin (Children’s Acupuncture)

Shonishin is more commonly known as Japanese Paediatric (or children’s) Acupuncture and it literally translates as “Children’s Needle”.   Both Traditional Chinese and Japanese acupuncturists have been treating children for centuries.  The Shonishin system, more specifically, dates back to the 17th century Japan in the Osaka region and then passed down through the generations until it was popularised through medical journals and publications in 1960s Japan.

The Shonishin approach uses a range of tools and is generally needle-less.  The tools used within Shonishin are often blunt and used for techniques that stroke, tap and press the various meridians of the child.  The techniques are gentle and the procedure is often completed fairly quickly without any discomfort or distress to the child.

Tarot

The Tarot is a tool of personal development that has been around since the mid-15th century in Europe and has spread around the world in various ways.  Common playing cards are related to tarot and from about the late 18th century Tarot cards have been used for predicting the future (divination), guided meditation and in a range of mystical activities and mystery schools.

There are 22 cards in what is known as the Major Arcana and these can be known as life lessons or spiritual signposts in your life.  The Major Arcana cards such as The Fool, The Magician, The Hermit or The Empress are cards that generally hold a greater meaning then the minutia of the nitty gritty in ones life.

The Minor Arcana consist of the remaining 56 cards making a total of 78.  The Minor Arcana cards are the suit cards and are generally known as Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles – these can be likened to the standard suits in a deck of cards (spades, clubs, hearts and diamonds).
